  • Mediocre food and Bad Service.. 2011-12-22

So we went to Souza Lobo as I heard the food was good and the ambiance was nice too.

We go there and ask a waiter for a table.. He says all tables are full even though we can see one empty.. He says that's not free.. And just walks away.. No telling us to wait. Etc etc. he wouldn't have cared if we walked away or not. We asked another waiter and after a bit of a wait got a table at one end of the resto.

No menu till we asked.. It too forever for everything. It took us 2hours to finish dinner.

and the food.. I though was very ok.. Nothing great..

    Wont be going

  • Better then the rest ... 2011-11-04

The only thing I liked was fish raechad and the continentals among all the dishes . The rice items weren't good as I tried the goan sausage rice..which didnt taste great and the quantity was very less. Visited there almost all the day of my stay in Goa as it was neat and service was good and also had a good view of the Calangute beach. Being in Goa expected to enjoy some fish delicacy at a reasonable rate as its next to the beach but was surprised with the prices ranging from 600-800 INR for local sea fish like king fish and pompret. Still this restaura stood out from the rest with its ambience... read more

  • Nothing exceptional..some goan experience 2011-10-18

This is my 3rd visit to this place. Nothing much change and the view from the front rows are good and the place is airy and good. Clean and tidy.
Food is good as the drinks were good (being in GOA, anyway it has to be!!)
We have opted for Fish Raechad and finger chips and a fresh lime soda for my wife.
Fish was instant hit (i knew it from my previous experience) and it was fresh, tangy, spicy and good but on the other hand the finger chips are soggy and badly cooked. Ordered a couple of beers which were chilled and served nicely.
Ordered a goan sausage fried rice and a chilly chick

  • Great views and good food 2011-10-04

We visited the joint on a pretty warm Sept afternoon. We got ourselves a seat by the window and there was a good sea breeze going. My sons and I ordered Pork, Squid, Crab and my wife ordered King Fish. We enjoyed the service and the food served - all of which I would rate a 7 out of 10.

  • Full marks! 2011-05-13

Absolutely love it - every single time! Overlooking the Calangute beach, this shack is casual and airy. The food is authentic and soulful, the seafood of course is the speciality. We tried buttergarlic prawns, Fish n chips, and Xacuti with rice. All the dishes were excellent. I highly recommend Souza Lobo.

  • Not as good... 2011-04-06

I have been to Souza Lobo many times. Obviously, no one can miss it. But the quality has gone down a bit ever since my first visit. Even my friends who are hardcore non-veggies said its gone down. Not as good as it used to be. Plus, considering its become like a tourist hotspot, you would have thought that they have at least *some* food for the veggies...

  • Yummmmm! 2011-04-01

I've been to Goa plenty of times but strangely had never actually sat and eaten at one of the sea side restaurants. So this time when i went there it was must on my list. My friend recommended Souza Lobo, said it was reliable and one of the oldest places so I tried it out. We stuffed ourselves with starters like butter prawns, fish fry, chicken kebas and pork chilly...everything was cooked perfectly...the meat and fish were fresh. I felt it was slightly overpriced..probably because it a famous place....but that shouldn't keep you from having a meal here
